To lend a helping hand to the Victorian Bush Fire relief efforts Sitepoint yesterday produced a special offer on several of their products and are donating all proceeds to chartiy. The offer was distributed via Twitter with surprisingly effective result:
He (Harbottle) estimates his offer has touched millions of people all over the world overnight. “It would not have been possible without Twitter. We set up a page on Facebook, but that wasn’t as successful as Twitter.”
Sixteen hours later he has raised $75,000 and expects by the time the sale ends in three days to have raised $150,000.
“We hadn’t even told our customer base about it via email, which is what we would usually do. Twitter and Facebook have made it so much easier to get the word out,” he says.
